Grant County High School is pleased to announce that six members of the Grant County Band Program have been selected for the prestigious 2011 All-State Bands! Selection for All-State is very competitive, is by audition, and represents the “best of the best” from throughout the state! Mr. David Owen, Director of Bands for GCHS, was very pleased to see so many students selected from the GC program. “To have six students make All-State is very exciting! This number represents not only the highest number Grant County has ever had selected, but also ties as the highest number any school in Northern Kentucky is privileged to send to the 2011 ensembles!”
Even more noteworthy, three of the students were selected for “First Chair” in the All-State Symphonic Band, which is the top band in the state! This is a huge accomplishment, meaning these students have been named the state’s top students on their respective instruments. This is the highest ensemble honor a band member can receive!
Congratulations to:
Heather Shelton, Clarinet, 1st Chair, 2011 All-State Symphonic Band*
Luke Hampton, Bass Clarinet, 1st Chair, 2011 All-State Symphonic Band
Damien Hicks, Bari Saxophone, 1st Chair, 2011 All-State Symphonic Band
Brittany Epperson, Clarinet, 18th Chair, 2011 All-State Symphonic Band
Clayton Tipton, Trombone, 7th Chair, 2011 All-State Concert Band
Jacob Kinman, Trumpet, 15th Chair, 2011 All-State Concert Band
